from what i have heard, males are much more green even as slings then females,a mature male looks nothing like a female, like a giant green huntsman spider on steroids, also have heard the pediplaps can be quite long and the males are much more defensive, maybe John LaRizzio can comment on this thread he has posted some awesome pics of a male before and has exsperience in breeding them, maybe even Volker or Martin will jump on this thread:), i have a 7"+ female right now and i have to say this is my favorite sp. by far, she has an appetite like a pokie, so far i've fed her every 2-3 days without refusal of food, if you have a chance to get one i strongly suggest you do if your into asian tarantulas, best regards--Jeff

As juveniles, the females have dark legs and the males have lighter legs. When the males mature, they change shape and colour completely. They become a gold/green colour and don't look anything like most tarantulas - very long legs, small cephalothorax and abdomen.

Nice pics!
Check out a past thread; click me

Check the mature male. To me, they are one of the most spectacular of tarantulas. They're just so neat!

Well, the parents are letting me keep my centipedes, and I'll just tell them I haven't found anyone to buy for the ones i'd like to keep the most. I was going to get a sling, I can't find adults anywhere. But, when arachnocenter was still in business, he had adult C. shioedtei for $65, no ones gunna have them like that anymore, lol.

Hmm Im not sure what you mean here Volker. But yes Im not 100% sure its really thorelli on my pictures if thats what you mean - but that what I bought them as. And Danne? No they dont come from Danne. I bought them from Singapore back in 1998 or something.

Hi Lelle,

I'd try to make a joke...well...!:8o
In several postings within this Arachnoboards Mailinglist I've explained why the Petrade "Cyriopagopus thorelli" is highly likely a Cyriopagopus schioedtei. So, I'm not of the opinion that we should support an obviously wrong name (= thorelli) because "it's easier to spell". That is the reason why I named you as "Danne"= That's the wrong "Species"-Name for you, but it's easier to spell!;)

Cheers, Volker

LOL! Maybe I was a bit slow.. the immense tropical heat here take its toll :)

Offcourse I didnt just say its thorelli cos its easier to spell! I thought you knew me better. Back in those days no one except a few had thorelli and few people, if any, thought the pet thorelli´s were infact schioedtei (!). Thats why I labeled them thorelli cos that what I bought them as. Offcourse if I had them now I´d send you a exuvia.. but they are gone.

So 'Lelle' is harder to spell then 'Danne'? LOL And that comes from a guy named Volker von Virth... ;-)
From now on you are called Volkie haha
