Just a heads up, that my 11 yr old cat was stung and after 3 days at er vet died. Caused pancreatitis, massive kidney inflamation, etc. So be careful. Some ppl think cats are immune. They are not. RIP Sweetie.

Cats are more delicate then you think, any bite or sting at any age can be deadly. Even a bite off a mouse or rat as they hunt can cause major problems with infection ect , even scratches or bites from another cat can cause infection and long term issues.

This is what I was wondering. Was it a wild scorpion that found its way inside or an escaped captive specimen? Based on your location I am betting a wild one got inside.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was definitely in the camp that did not think any scorpion sting from a native US species would be fatal for felines. Thank you for getting on here to share this warning with us, which can be especially difficult with your loss being so fresh, but it's definitely good to get the information out there sooner than later to hopefully help prevent other possible losses.

If you think about it, domestic cats are a relatively new addition to America. They've only been here about 500 years if that. I would expect cougars and bobcats, jaguarundis, jaguars to have better immunity as they are native here for 6000-7000+ years.
