Needless to say I'm a bit freaked out right now...first time this has ever happened.

So I was giving my female C. gracilis a new water dish, went to move her to the other side of her enclosure so I could build up the sub around the "dish" (it's a cap to a Sobe bottle) and I know what you might be thinking, why didn't you put her in a temporary container....my reason is because she is a pet rock that likes the stay under her moss....Except for today. >.< Well I honestly never thought anything of it, I took a pair of short tongs/tweezers(lesson learned to use long tongs even for scorpions) and went to move her over to the far wall...when I did, I guess she wanted no part of it and flicked her tail up and I don't know if she actually got me or her stinger grazed the tip of my finger, but I felt it touch my finger and I panicked....dropped the tongs, somehow she ended up on my table out of her enclosure (honestly still not sure how it happened but I checked her over and she is fine thankfully) After I put her in her enclosure and shut it, I checked out my finger.....there's no blood....my finger is tingly but I have carpal tunnel so about 98% of the time my fingers are tingly and numb... it's not sore or anything.....I'm keeping an eye on it just to be sure though.

ALWAYS use long tongs. Never put yourself in a situation where you can get stung. It sounds like you got a bit careless. Which is exactly why you got stung. Be careful!

Good thing it was just a poke that didn't break the skin or a dry sting since bleeding is always a good (bad) sign you got penetrated
Sometimes getting a close call puts reality back in front of you lol
I've got hit a few times because of "docile" scorpions and it makes you rethink how you take care of them - never underestimate your scorpions even the 1's that act like a cute little kitten you wanna cuddle with :) lol

I've gotten a few dry ones before. Just count yourself lucky :) As others have said, tongs tongs tongs! Every time I've been tagged it's been because i used my fingers with some relatively harmless species like a gracilis, and gotten tagged.

Very relieved that it didn't puncture the skin and yes I am back to my careful self when doing anything with these guys :p It was indeed a great reality check and great lesson learned ^_^ I'm deathly allergic to bee stings and I've heard differing stories of people getting tagged and having horrible reactions and no reactions with scorpions... Not something I personally want to find out XD

I'm also allergic to bee stings ( honey bees + yellow jackets) but that also made me curious early on to how I would react to a scorpion sting so I tried a few intentionally and had shocking results

V spinigerus - no reaction at all not even a touch of pain and that sting left blood dripping off my finger
P imperator - no reaction at all but when it grabbed with those massive chela .... OUCH !!!!
I've been stung by 4 other species ( all pure accident/stupidity ) and I gotta say don't get hit by H trilineatus as it was 1 of the worst experiences in my life !!
H jayakari was surprisingly a fun reaction as it made me feel like I had a extreme caffeine buzz coupled with low blood sugar tremors and a constant head rush feeling like when you Stand up too quickly. I'm not in anyway promoting for anyone to try getting stung intentionally as it may be the last thing you do - just showing how different every specie can be just for a specific individual and I'm sure that each sting could be totally different than the last sting
Be Safe with your scorpions people - don't try these experiments at home - I'm a trained idiot :) lol

XDD Thank you for that. As for my scorpions right now, I have:

roughly 30-40 C. gracilis (possible gravid female)
1 unsexed H. spinifer
1 confirmed female H. longimanus
3 confirmed male C. sculpturatus

The only one that's ever shady is my spinifer lol

I've gotten stung by a juvenile C. gracilis a few months back. The baby ran up my finger into my shirt! When I tried to "cup" it, it got me right in the underarm area. It hurt slightly more than a wasp sting. Immediate pain lasted about 30 minutes. Swelled a little where it stung me, but nothing significant. It definitely was not something to cry about — for me anyways. I can handle the adults easily, but I avoid handling the babies too much. They seem to get spooked more easily; they're lightening fast!
