Hi all, new to the forums and figured I would start out with a question.

Just picked up 2 GBB slings at the daytona reptile breeders expo. Aprox 1" leg span. Never had this variety before and i know they like it on the dry side. But whats to dry or to wet? Ive very lightly misted one side of there container and the substrate is almost bone dry, just a couple water droplets handing on the side. Will this be good enough to allow for a proper molt if I repeat once a week?

Really dont want to mess up with these little guys so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thnx for the help, and look forward to helping others if I can :)

hey..welcome to the boards. i have two gbbs also...one the same size and the other about a molt behind. i keep them bone dry. i just let them get their moisture from food. (so i try to make sure their food is fed well :D ) misting every once in a while to let it drink won't hurt...but i honestly don't think i have done this with this species.

ps. how was the show up in daytona?? i wanted to go, but its kind of a drive and i don't really have too much spare cash :( heh and i'm also running out of space in my room.

Thnx for the quick reply :)

I wil hold off on the watering now, one time wont hurt (Fingers Crossed)

The daytona show was excellent, good attendance, kinda thin on the Tarantula tables but Bill and Bruce from Theraphosid Breeding Project where there again and they had pretty much anything you could want or need.
Picked up 3 Nhandu Coloratovillosus slings also, everyone feeding very well.

Thnx again for the reply, really preciate it

i raised my GBB sling to an ultimate male just occasionally misting. no ridgid schedule just once every week or 2. they are really tough little T's and really good eaters. you should have no problems raising them.

I never mist mine, he has a small water dish to use if he chooses, but I've never seen him drink.

another thing about the dish...these things web up everything...it might be more of pain to keep a dish in there...constantly having water leaked out through webbing..or just not being able to get to it without tearing up a lot of webbing (everytime  ) so if you think it needs a drink..a little misting on the webbing would be fine.

Similar question

My 1" GBB just moulted, and I do tend to keep it's vial on the dry side. However, I am sure I read that a recently moulted "T's" will usually drink to replenish fluids.

What would be best?

Add a few droplets to web in vial.
Just wait until hardens, and let it get fluids from first couple of meals.

Thanks in advance

access to a little drinking water, be it a spritz on the web or a water dish is never going to be a bad thing.

if you notice the spider is fanatical about drinking you might consider increasing its access to drinking water. a thirsty spider will let you know, if you know what to look for

Thanks for your reply.

I'll give it a day or so and add a few droplets to the web via eyedropper and see what happens.

Exactly what I do and I've raised a female from sling to adult, and another sling to juvie. Don't worry about it - It wont harm the spider :)
