Buying a tiger salamander outside of CA?

Hey guys,I know that Tiger Salamanders are illegal in the state of California,but my question was,can you purchase one out of state and take it back to CA?Or is that illegal too? Thanks!!

Most probably is illegal. It's one of those "illegal, but we don't care unless we find it" things. I have plenty of friends who have ball python in new york city (which is illegal), who just had it shipped to them or bought it upstate. The police don't really care, just don't go showing it off or bringing it outside.

Why are tiger salamanders illegal in CA? Are they considered an invasive species?

Because of the status of the CA tiger sal that is protected.. In fact,its the whole genus Ambystoma that's illegal in CA.
