Come on over here in spring for your major butterfly fix. I'll even consider taking you to what I named Butterfly Valley. You might want to hurry the visit up. Urbanization and pesticides are taking their toll.
Butterfly Valley. Bring your own 4WD. My beloved partner made me sell mine for a comfy family capable station wagon. :bigtears::vomit::vomit::vomit:

There's only one place in town I still see swallowtails. I do notice the occasional Monarch in the backyard.

Belatedly cometh the dawn. How to catch quality images of butterflies. You are all welcome to make comments of my brain operating below the speed of the average sloth.
That setting on my Nikon cryptically called Sports that I have never used. It automatically makes lens and lightning adjustments to capture objects moving at high speed in a series of about 5 shots per second continuously as the button is held down with the field of view divided up into nine sections where you can select which section gets the focal priority.
I've had that camera for four years and this sort of application never dawned on me. -> Like, when am I going to shoot runners at a track meet or cars racing past?
Lepidoptera my dear, Nikon has officially deemed your photography a sport.

Statistically, I figure I've got a better shot at moths. There are 8 moth species for every 1 butterfly species. Every now and then I find a Polyphemus around here. There was one out on the bike path the other morning. I just need to become more nocturnal.

Holy mackerel! That is an exquisite Lepidopteran, truly 🤩! All I see up here are cabbage whites (Pieris rapae) and the occasional Mourning Cloak (Nymphalis antiopa).

Nothing wrong with rocking a wagon, I myself have had one since I got my first car. I regularly drive off road or up the mountains for work in the summer and have had very few issues. Anything it can't tackle I'll hike.....I think I see your point now 😅.

I love the tiger swallowtail. One of the most beautiful in my opinion.
