My fiance told me today that his sister's dog buried 2 of her pups. Supposedly she took them outside, from inside, and buried them. Of course they are dead now.
I dont know the situation well...but I do know my sister in law doesnt care much for her animals (she loves them, yes, but she cant afford them financially)...and brother and sister mated, had 9 pups..one with a missing tail (inbred deformity) and smothered 3 or 4, cant remember..by laying on them. And now she buried 2 of them.
What could possibly cause a dog to bury her own pups? Perhaps it's because she is under 1 year of age and this is her first litter and she is not sure what to do with them? Or possibly stress? I dont know if the male is housed near the female..but I DO know that my female Poodle would snap at the father of the pups if he even came 5 feet near them.
So hmmm...what do you all think could be the cause of this?
I will try to get more info on the situation this weekend, and go over there and help her with the mother and pups so it doesnt happen again.
