Burrowing bugs and enclosures

This is kind of a weird question but here it goes. Are there any enclosures that could be used for species that burrow (either as larva or adults) so you could observe them? Or if you're not keeping them as pets, to temporarily place them there and take photos? Unless light would harm them, of course -- I wouldn't do that. I was thinking some like ant farms but for other species, it would be pretty neat! If anyone knows about something like this or has any tips, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!
