Bug?

From Septimo Paraiso, Mindo area, Western slope, Ecuador.
At first I thought this was a strange moth. But maybe this is a bug?!
Scratching sound when moving or fluttering wings. 3-4 cm in length.

almost looks to me like a type of caddisfly (know that's not it though). that was my first thought. will look into it a smidge.

Yes. It is a true bug. Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha. Probably Derbidae family .
