I caught this bug up in MN. I call them "banana bugs" be cause when frightened they exude a scent that smells very much like banana bread or some other fruit, in short itsmells really good. It looks like an assassin bug but they do not live here. Here are some pics.

When you Id it I have some questions:

What do they eat? (I mean what species of plant, bug ect ect)

How should I care for them?

How do I breed them?

For their setup 1 20 gallon tank with live plants and 10 to 20 of them.

Definitley a Coreidae, perhaps genus Leptoglossus. These are herbivores. Kept warm and on the right plants they will do very well in captivity. The only species from MN I could find in that genus is Leptoglossus occidentalis. The pictures aren't a great comparison tool but it might help.

Host plants include white pine (Pinus strobus), red pine (Pinus resinosa ), Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), Austrian pine (Pinus nigra), mugo pine (Pinus mugo), lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta), white spruce (Picea glauca), Douglas-fir ( Pseudotsuga menziesii), several other conifers and pistachio (Pistacia vera).

After doing research I have found that this bug is unable to be kept in captivity. Its specialized diet makes to to hard to provide food for it.

I'm sure you could keep them if you really wanted to, you would just need a fresh supply of any of the host plants listed above.
