Thanks guys The size difference is interesting in this species (the male is just under half the size of the female), however in the northern species it is even more extreme Have a look at these images, Selenotypus sp.5 males are typically this small, on average about 1/4 the size of the female (these breeding images from three days ago):

I cannot get over the size diffrence , that male has one scary objective i might add ! What what size does the male mature at usually ?

Hi,
This is the typical size for these males, they are all dwarfs. This is the species that was featured in the second last edition of Arachne (image of this species on the cover).

So does the male make it out alive ?

It depends on the mood of the female, very much!! Here is an image taken after another breeding attempt 2 days later with a different male.....
