Has anybody tried breeding Anthia ground beetles? When available they are really popular. I'm trying the same technique I used for locusts -placing containers of damp sand around the cage. They've mated a few times, and the female looks fat and is hungry all the time, but no luck so far.
Has anyone any advice please?
I've heard the larvae grow huge and are even more ferocious than the adults -"Jaws with tails". I've never seen a picture on the web though.

Last year on a fair a boy offered one pregnant female, I was thinking but didn't buy it. So I can't help you... Which species do you have?

try using the search function and you will find some old threads about these bettles.

From what I recall they are hard to breed in captivity.
Very interesting bettles nonetheless, I was also tempted to buy some recently

Anthia beetles

They are Anthia fabricii -from South Africa I think. Not as big as sexguttata,
about 43mm, whitish margins around the wing-cases. I'd love to get thoracica -it's over 50mm and has huge jaws.

Even if she does lay eggs I might not be able to find them.
:?
I'll look back for those old posts and see what they say-------
