I will be getting a male and female (both mature) P. fasciata soon and will attempt breeding them. I will put them in together as soon as the male has made his spermweb. I plan on putting them together for a while to make sure several matings occur. Now my question is...what should be the minimum tank size for the two so that the male has a chance of living with her for a somewhat long time. I'm thinking around 20+ gallons is that fine? Thanks! Any other tips on breeding them will be appreciated. Thanks again!

Well, my male pokie was on breeding loan for over a month. He lived in what could best be described as a 10 to 15-tall. Not sure the exact dimensions, but it was a good size for the female, nothing more. He did well.

When I bred my B.vagans female that already showed herself to be a canible, I left her and the male in a 40-long. That gave him plenty of retreat room. He did well.

If you are supervising, what I have found works is just to house them in appropriate enclosures for themselves and then put them in a large tub and open the doors. Sometimes it helps to prod the male towards the female enclosure, but often he will figure that out himself. Just be careful, as pokies are fast and arboreal and may decide that something like a spatula is not to be run from as much as it is to be climbed.

Cheers,
Dave

Yeah just any tank your female is living in will suffice.

I have a mating video of my male A.Avicularia (arboreal mating so should give a rough idea of size) though it's a big file and I can only have 56k connection :< I intend to upload it one day!
