Ok so today I brought a Brazilian Rainbow Boas, Epicrates cenchria cenchria. it was 200 dollars (30% off the regular price which is 276.99) the pictures of it are below I havent tried to feed it yet. I read up on these guys and I heard they are nippy when they are babies I dont know if the size I have is considered a baby or a juvenile though. However, on the way home on the train I was handling him/her and it did very well wasnt shy at all and it crawled all around my arms and stuff like that i could put my hand anywhere near its head and it didnt jerk back (like a ball python would do) and it didnt try to nip me at all so thats real good.

Right now I have it aspen but I'll probably need to change that because this is a snake that requires a lot of humidity but for the time being I have a humidifier in there with him/her on high in a walk in closet so the humidity stays in there which is good. What I am going to do is tomorrow I'm going to buy some spagnhum moss and make a humid hide also.

I havent fed it yet but my friend who work at petco where I got it from he said its on live mice so I'll be feeding it 1/2 every week.

Live mice are not a good idea. I have rescued many boas and pythons with wounds and horrible hunks of flesh missing because they weren't hungry and the mouse actually ate on it or when the snake bit it the mouse/rat bit back.

You should have no problem converting it to frozen/thawed mice.

Ok I'll just pre - kill them, hopefully it will take prekilled mice if I make it "dance"

This morning I went to go take my BRB (for those who dont know its Brazilian Rainbow Boa) out the tank to take pictures with him/her but all I could find was an empty log with no snake under it and a bunch of tunnels all over the aspen lol.

I guess this means the snake is enjoying hiding out in the aspen so I'm going to keep the aspen because its clearly making him feel safe. And I'm just going to add a humid hide.

When I add the hide can it be on the same side as the under tank heater? or does it have to be on the opposite side of the tank so the heat doesnt dry the inside of it out? Would it make any sense to have TWO humid hides?

Here is the picture of my BRB's ensclosure as you can see if you look close you DONT see him/her at all lol. And thats because its hiding out under the aspen.

I would suggest changing the aspen with cypress mulch. Will help maintain humidity better for this snake. You can put the hide over the heater, it will stay under the mulch on the other side to thermoregulate if it gets too warm.
