Hey all, hope you're all having a wonderful day and maybe you've got some time to come and give me a little bit of advice.... I've been wanting to acquire myself a Brazilian jewel tarantula but in South Africa it seems that no-one is stocking or ordering them? Are they illegal to own or is ot just that they're very rare & than I should keep on hoping and rechecking the stores online to see if anyone has any? It's really important to me, de ided to reward myself on selling my first book with buying myself this little beautiful arboreal guy and now it seems my dreams can't come true just because I live in South Africa.

Typhochlaena seladonia is still one of the "newer" and more raw species. Maybe that is the cause you can´t find them. In europe we have them and there is no law against keeping Typhochlaena species... You have to ask the south african government how your situation is.

I believe there are a few others on this forum from South Africa. Maybe if your title said, "T seldonia in S Africa", it may stand out more for them. Just a suggestion. Good luck in your search!

If you have never kept tarantulas for any length of time, or advanced species, do NOT get this species.

I have one that's a pain in my ass... honestly my kids were easier to nourish! But it is a absolute treat to look at when I see it!

It's a new and still not very common species in the hobby. Might be an unpopular opinion but I don't see their appeal tbh. Way too small and usually hidden behind their trap doors.
