(Couldn't find a thread on this. If there is one,i apologize)
What is the most reliable way of differentiating these two? And at white size do these differences start to show?
(Patella patterns,spermatheca,carapace patterns?)
Also, why is the smithi rarer in the hobby than the hamorii? Is it harder to breed?

I didn't own a Brachy so far. I'm looking into potentially buying one,and i see a lot of them labeled as B.smithi, which i assume is most likely a B.hamorii just because smithi is so rare.
So,it would be really good if i had the knowledge so i can know for sure what i'm buying.

If you like more the inner values and you have females, you can compare the basal plattes at the spermathecae.

B. hamorii = eliptic bp
B. smithi = triangular bp

That’s a big difference in the pic
Yes, it is exactly what MENDOZA & FRANCKE described.
I was just curious if the hobby-smithi came really from the wrong localities and check these features at some pet trade specimens, which was preserved a decade before the revision was published.
