Do I have the spellings right? Anyway, I had everything but mexicans before, and am wondering what to expect. What humidity do these guys need? Can't find any info, I read somewhere that part of mexico is tropical and wanted to get if right. Anyway, are these guys docile, possible to hold? Also wondering on Aphonopelma hentzi, A. chalcodes, how do I keep those, temperment? I'm getting all those in next week, curious if anybody knew.
Thanks,
Steve

The part of Mexico that these species come from are not tropical, its more to the dry side. Keep them just as B. smithi
A few light water sprays each week and thell be fine.
They are not to be handled, bicoloratum is very nervous and run like crazy (atleast mine) and boehmei do the same while kicking hairs like crazy.

A chalcodes / hentzi are kept the same way, as for temp. it varies but chalcodes are often more docile then hentzi.

I have both sp. and I keep them bone dry with a full water dish, wait, are you talking about lings or juvs or adults? the boehmei will readily kick hairs at any disturbance and their hairs seem to be the most irritating (IME) of all the brachypelmas. the bicoloratum is more skittish and prone to run and hide. the chalcodes and hentzi will also do ok on dry substrate with a water dish, lings should be kept more humid. I don't handle any of mine especially the boehmei.

Thanks for the replies, real quick too!

they calm with age...

When small yes they both run quite a bit but as they grow larger they calm down considerably. I handle mine with no problems at all except for some flicking.

Care wise they are both very easy. Water dish mostly dry substrate add spider and food and all is well.

I second what Phil says here though I prefer to only handle the bicoloratum between the two species. Even my 5 inch male was quite the hair kicker when disturbed so size hasn't been a factor for my boehmeis. All 3 of them are major hairkickers. (I only have 2 now as I traded the larger male away along with some of my other critters for a big female B. smithi). The two I kept are about 2.5 inches and they kick hairs even when I pick up their containers or even just LOOK at them. ;P

Gizmo, I have handled a few times. He's about 3.25 inches or so and more of a "pet rock" than any of my other Brachy species.

My boehmi is relatively calm and does not flick hairs too readily. The bicoloratum is on my want list.

I'm getting them in a trade, a bunch of slings like a cobalt 2in. and a stout legged baboon(I have no idea what the heck this thing is, probably a Eucratosceleus ssp. spelling?). N. colloratollovillosus slings, spellings? A. avicularia slings( whenever I go to buy an avic something always somes up, its like a curse), and the bicoloratum and the boehmi( I think they both look the same, it'll confuse me later, lol). I'm trading some Pokies and a T. blondi juvie, and a couple togos. I cant wait for the Avics, I never had one yet.
