Not at all. I've been keeping over 3 years and I just got my first B. emilia. I've been through haplos, baboons, pokies, OBT's, etc but I still pick up an Aphonopelma here, a brachy there... My tastes are varied and apparently so are yours.

I have quite a range of aboreal and terrestrials ranging from allsorts like OBT's, pokies, H. macs, A. Genics, C, fasciatum, B, vagans etc.... my list could go on forever, but I just HAD to get a B. smithi, there's nothing wrong with that. They are lovely and a must for any collection IMO.

I love all my new world terrestrials. Smithi are one of the most popular for a reason . Long lived , calm disposition, pretty colors , food feeder . whats not to love? Ive been caring for tarantuls since 89' , have over 50 , and still have a special place for those calm , slow moving beasts. enjoy it ! Plus you dont have to worry as much that it will jump onto your hand and run up to your face while your trying to clean the cage i n a split second!

You may be boring for many other reasons, but not that. lol
No really, B.smithi is a must for any collection.
If you really think there is a 'T ladder', then the smithi is a rung you need on that ladder.:)

All T's are boring behaviorally. People who think smithi's are boring are really saying they aren't scary, which is true.

Some people are in the hobby because they like to have pets that are a bit scary. Others don't care about that (or are easily scared).

Smithi is great. I keep only NW tarantulas, and I like it that way.
