So this is our treechicken Frummel, he is around 10 years old and he will devour all the leafy greens you hide in your fridge.

From the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail he is around 130cm. He is very docile and mellow, even during breeding season, he shows no agression to humans, only to his reflection. He did get a little bit crankier after our female died last June. They were a bonded pair (she was the Alpha, but was a rescue with significant health issues and stunted growth, which eventually caught up to her. Still got to enjoy her for 7 years.) We really consider ourselves lucky with his laid back personality because we have had some (edited for abbreviation) stinkpersonality iguanas in the past aswell. 🤣

Sounds like you got really lucky then, would hate to take a tail slap from that guy. Sorry to hear about your girl, any plans on getting another rescue or will he live the bachelor life for the foreseeable future? About 18 years ago, I volunteered at a small aquarium, mostly doing birthday party tours and answering visitor's questions. We had an absolutely huge male and I've never seen his equal since. He was confirmed to be over 180cm and surprisingly very sweet (especially when compared to a 120cm rescue male who was just an absolute terror). He was so well behaved that we kept him in a very large mixed species exhibit with parrots, a pair of sloths, an armadillo, and a small harem of well behaved females. He never gave us any issues and it was one of very few large, mixed species exhibits that I've ever seen be successful long term.

That is amazing! You probably don't have any photos by chance?

We don't plan on adding another rescue female, simply because we plan on him being our last iguana. (You never know what crosses our path though). He spent his first years alone, so I think he will survive being a bachelor again. And you never know if he would be able to bond with another female the way he did with Puk. I would really hate to bring in a female and it be a mismatch (and having to return her, which is something that breaks my heart) or we would have to build an extra huge enclosure just for her. Frummel's enclosure already takes up quite alot of space in the living room, so I am not looking forward to another one.🤣

This is the enclosure FB_IMG_1629841328624.jpg

And this Frummel with Puk, the first photo was from when we just rescued her. (she was already around 2-3 years old). The second photo is how she looked after being in our care for a few years.

I don't and I really wish I did, but alas I was a 13 year old kid and digital cameras were expensive and in their infancy . Lovely enclosure by the way. Too many people keep them in subpar conditions and it makes me very happy to see this guy in his castle.

Veggie eating machines. Those toes and claws designed for for taming the wily wild cabbage.

At least you have the memories. I can use my imagination 😁 And thank you! Build it from scratch. Frummel was actually a rescue aswell, and totally not planned. He came with a tiny enclosure (and we didn't have our old iguana enclosure anymore), so we had to build this in 3 weeks. I love building my animals tanks, I usually include elaborate backgrounds, but that would have been shredded within a year 🤣

Ahhh yesss, the no batteries needed slendybendy cabbage shredders. One of the most useful kitchen supplies, it only costs you about half the cabbage to use it.

Every dang time! Porked out max and all smug, and the place looks like a bomb went off in the produce section.

I mean to ask, does your go crazy on grapes? Like pace back and forth and even sort of sit up and beg?
