Well I keep a large number of Columbians. I think they are great snakes. Well mannered for the most part. As with any snake they can and will bite if provoked. I think they reach a managable adult size if you have the room for them. Females average about 6-9 foot and males 5-7. You will have exceptions here and there. They are good feeders and will take frozen thawed rodents usually with out trouble. It really matters most what you are looking for in a snake. I think overall they make great pets for people who are willing to do all the things nessasary for them to stay in good health. Have the room, the time and the money to care for one properly. They are not a snake you can just throw in a glass tank with sticky temp/humidity gauges throw a rat in with here and there. (not that any snakes are, its just a lot of people think they are hardy animals and are ok living this way) My pros and cons maybe biased since I keep many and love this species. I do keep other snakes as well so IMO these just seem the best all around.

yeah i was thinking of getting an abberant male b.c.i,just because i want a snake that is not going to gett overly sized. does anone know what abberant means ? is it a good trait in the boa constrictors genes? this would be my first red tail but i have many amazon tree boas. i heard b.c.i's are the most friendly snakes in the boa costrictorr family does anyone know if this could be true ?:?

Abberancies are just pattern abnormalties really, They can be cuased by a number of things during gestation. Most often irregular temps. There are some pattern morphs out there that are gentic like Jungles, Motely, Arabesque, Harlequins but all these are pretty high up there in price. If you have no breeding plans and just want a pretty abberant looking boa then genetic traits shouldn't be that important.
