Hello, I am new to all this but I am thinking of getting Blue Death Feigning Beetle and wanted to ask a couple questions
1, what do you feed your beetles?
2, what do you use for a substrate?
I was thinking of sand for a substrate what are your thoughts about the sand?

I feed my Blue beetles fish flakes and carrot slices, sometimes those little jelly cups you can buy. Don't need much more than that. As for substrate, sand works fine. I like to mix in repti-zoo or whatever brand it is excavator clay and then make a little landscape type deal with a cave for them to hide in. They really like to climb up the stick I've given them too.

1. High protein + fiber, low sugar/fat. My blue death feigning beetles enjoy freshly killed insects (dubia roaches), dried river shrimp, cactus, prickly pear. If you’re going to feed them fruit and vegetables from the store, please watch out for pesticides

2. I’d recommend the exo terra stone desert substrate. The red blend especially makes your beetles stand out. You can get it for pretty cheap at Kensfish. If not, fine sand particularly is a big no no
