Hello! I had some blue bottle fly pupae that didn’t hatch and I’m not sure why. I bought some blue bottle maggots that arrived on September 1st and separated some of the ones that had pupated during transit so they could hatch. I put them in deli cups and put those inside my indoor “greenhouse” where temps reach 80 F and humidity 70%. Fast forward to now (two weeks later!) only one ever hatched, the others died I assume? I thought heat would be good for them? Any temperature advice for pupae would be appreciated.

Were your deli cups ventilated? Or were they maybe in direct sunlight?

Ohhhh no they weren’t ventilated 😵💫 and yes technically, under a grow light.

A lack of ventilation will cause issues, but grow lights shouldn't affect them. The concern with sunlight is that they'll overheat.
