Just quiclly showing you a specimen of Carabus (Mesocarabus) problematicus belgicus, prepared on laber. This relatively large European ground beetle is quite nice for its bluish coloration and laterally-flared thorax.
Like most carabids these are predatory, nocturnal critteres at both adult and larval stage. Superficially similar to the often sympatric Carabus violaceus, the most striking differences with those are more strongly sculpted elytra and a more convex pronotum.
Specimen origin: France.
