Blood clot?

I thought that tarantulas do not have the ability to clot there blood. You often read stories about them falling and bleeding to death. Recently my H. schmidti lost a leg. I still dont know why a leg would just fall off, but why didnt it die from blood loss? It looks like a white patch is over the spot were the leg was.:?

If I remember right, when a T throws a leg, it is generally done at the coxa which has the ability to seal itself.
