I have been recently looking into Black Widows, and would love one as a pet.
I have a reliable, secure, aesthetic terrarium all planned out.
Only problem? They aren't much around here. And I would prefer one that isn't wild.
(Knowing its age and hopefully previously isolated to prevent hatchlings)

I understand the governments interest in legislation and control of shipment... But assuming responsibility I am fine with breaking a rule or two

Anyone willing to sell or willing to direct me in the right direction?
Thanks!

There are plenty of people who sell a variety of black widow species - I've seen them pop up recently here in the AB classifieds several times.

I wouldn't worry too much about getting a wild caught specimen, either, if your only concern is unwanted babies. It's very easy to pull any egg sacs they might produce and destroy them. I do that all the time for mine. (I have an abundance of black widows in my yard and garage, so I just go out and pick a nice big fat one when I need one.) All you need is a set of long tongs to reach in and pull out the sac, then you can freeze or squish it. Eventually, they will stop producing viable sacs - but it does take awhile. I've had wild-caught black widows produce up to 7 or 8 viable sacs before they start laying duds.

Depending on where you are in Indiana you might be able to find L. variolus. That can be a tricky species to find though, they tend not to utilize human settlements as much as other latros.
