After researching more into the Insects and Arachnids of British Columbia, i saw that Latrodectus hesperus were native to the area. Has anyone ever seen these guys around? Ive always seen Seatoda species around, they seem very interesting to me and would love to get some pics. I understand they are highly venomous and i would NEVER consider handling ever.

Found 2 and a probable third here, in close proximity to a shipping container that came from Vancouver via Seattle. When Crawford said they are cosmopolitan he wasn't kidding.

Lived in Vancouver all my life, (now in Coquitlam), I've never seen one in the wild. Many false widows though. I have 3 widow species now but they were bought.

I can't see them being in coastal B.C. but in the area geologically similar to Eastern Washington between Copper Mtn. and Nelson I would bet they exist.

I live in northwestern Washington near seattle and I go out on hikes, camping trips, beach trips, as well as time in urban areas and I've never seen a black widow. There are quite a few steatoda grossas here though (false black widows) and I wouldn't be surprised if you have them up there too. Female grossa are beautiful though. I kept an adult female and she made an awesome web and had an egg sac even.
