I have 2 glass enclosures full of black widow spiderlings and everyday that passes, they climb higher. I cannot let them reach the top if I ever want to open it again!
Can I smear a thin layer of Vaseline or something similar around the glass jar to prevent them from climbing so high?
Thanks in advance for any advice or tried and true solutions!

You can try, being very careful and minimal. But keep in mind you are directly opposing hard wired genetic instructions to disperse and go ballooning.

I would not put Petroleum Jelly into an enclosure.

Someone I knew used olive oil for sling Ts

If you search the forum you may find some posts like yours as this question is posted at times, but very infrequently.

I know one thing, you’ll be a hit at any Halloween party this year 😉

Its all about your objective. And how many other spiders and tarantulas you keep.

you need hosery right now because they are small. Like pantyhose.
