Hey guys i need some help if possible, ive tried the search engine and the web and nothing much comes up.
Im looking for a black velvet tarantula with tiger like markings on its rump.
Ive searched without much luck but ive found the malaysian black velvet, mexican black velevet and the borneo black.....
I have my suspicions the mexican variety is G. pulchra missidentified but if you could give me some insight and latin names id really appreciate it.

A black tarantula with tiger like markings? Sounds like a P. irminia to me. Are you trying to get an ID based solely off your memory? Do you remember if it was an arboreal or terrestrial species?

Haplopelma minax
Lampropelma sp. "Borneo black"

Those two fit your description. That is if your talking about a spider that is all black. If not, Psalmopoeus irminia like mentioned above is a good guess.

This is my young female Borneo black

This look about like what you're looking for? I wholeheartedly recommend getting one; while they're very shy, they just ooze beauty. Same with L. nigerrimum. I'm not sure where Newton Abbot is (UK?), but if you're here in the US, there are a lot of breeders/dealers selling them.

Edit: Check L. sp. Sulawesi black velvet, they are more gray than black but you called it a black velvet so could be it also. They get enormous!
