Obviously apart from the appearance (before anyone else says it! {D ), what are the differences between brown and black crickets? Is one type preferable to the other, and does it matter which T has what colour?

I am currently operating on advice from my local reptile centre to feed my G. rosea and my P. regalis (if she survives :( ) on medium brown crickets, my L. parahybana on large black crickets, and my B. vagans sling on tiny black crickets. Could I equally easily feed them all on brown ones, as I am squeamish to the point of it not being funny with the black ones?! :8o

I use crickets a little as possible. They STINK!!!!! Plus are typically much less nutritious than other feeders.

My thoughts were Brown = House crickets as Black = field crickets? And yes they will eat both, must add snakes to yours seanbond. Caught on video Rattlesnakes and A Fer Da Lance.

I breed my own black crickets. They get MUCH larger than the brown ones, and when full grown can rival roaches in size.

Have anything to back that up? Because I think it's not true, plus it depends on what do you feed your feeders.

I use both black (field?) crickets (Gryllus sp.?) and brown (house?) crickets (Acheta domesticus?) as feeders, both are good, and are readilty taken by my spiders. What you use depends on you, though yes browns are smaller than blacks as adults.
