Do you know the scientific names of those species? Looked black thai scorpion up on google and got 1 picture of an H. Spinifer, sounds like they are both heterometrus sp. to me.

Asian Forest Scorpion = Heterometrus spp.

if you see a country name, then the heterometrus probably comes from that country: ie, thai = H.spinifer/H.laoticus
viet= H.spinifer/H.laoticus/H.petersii
ETC

the suppliers generally misidentify if they are using common names, so you will need to ID your scorpion by yourself ;/

or send me pics

H. Longimanus and H. Spinifer

I have both. I'm no expert so I also get confused with their common names. My longimanus is black, even in daylight. While my spinifer looks black but has a greenish color (like a darker shade of jade) under daylight. If you have adults, I believe the spinifer is much bigger and robust than the longimanus.

Alakdan,

Aside from my H. longimanus being jet-black, it does not have the heavily-built, robust chelae of my H. spinifer and the fingers of the hand are very elongate in comparison to the short, stout fingers of the chelae of H. spinifer.

hey..

there are lots of different species everywhere!!

Black thai, unsurprisingly comes from Thailand :p

in the Philippenes you get H.cyaneus, H.longmanus and H.petersii

in Thailand you get H.spinifer and H.laoticus, so depending on where you got it, you have different characteristics to identify

any chance of a picture?

actually there are also h. spinifers here in the phils and is very much available in the market for selling. we also have h.laoticus, liocheles australasiae, vinegaroons and tarantulas. i'm currently breeding my m.martensii from china and hopefully, in the near future, there would be more species of scorps here in the phils sold at a much cheaper price :)
