G. portensa seems to come in a wide range of color morphs. I have a huge variability of color in my colony, from a light, orangey "ginger" color, to black. I don't think it is related to diet, as I've had multiple colors show up in the same brood. Here's some pics to illustrate some of the different "shades of hissers."

when this happen i normally just feed off the color that i don't like and breed the color morph that i do like. if you do this, then mostly likely you'll have more of the color morph that you'll like, whatever it may be.
