black roaches(i've go too!)

my G.portentosa colony is veryu weird.80 percent of them is black.Any ideaswhy?could it be cause i feed them muberry lereaves except fruit?

G. portensa seems to come in a wide range of color morphs. I have a huge variability of color in my colony, from a light, orangey "ginger" color, to black. I don't think it is related to diet, as I've had multiple colors show up in the same brood. Here's some pics to illustrate some of the different "shades of hissers."


A very light colored female.

A male and female with very different colors/markings

A very yellowy male

A nice rich reddish female.

when this happen i normally just feed off the color that i don't like and breed the color morph that i do like. if you do this, then mostly likely you'll have more of the color morph that you'll like, whatever it may be.
