Okay, just one more snake thread :D

this is my female black house snake. House snakes are a fantastic group of snakes from temperate and sub-tropical Africa. They feed on birds, lizards, and small mammals, but generally do very well on a captive diet of frozen-thawed rodents. They are very similar in appearance, behavior, and habits to the rat snakes of North America and Asia, although they were once classified as a species of python based on their diamond shaped heads and cat-like eyes; they are, in fact, a colubrid snake. They are a bit more nervous than rat snakes, but are very reluctant to bite.

L. inornata is considered one of the duller, less attractive house snake species, but they are very iridescent under the right lighting and I think they're gorgeous. There really is no picture that can do this snake's coloration justice.

Is that a relative of Xenopeltis? (Sunbeam snake)

Opps. Nope. Just similar coloration

I've always thought this species is a good alternative to the sunbeam snake, which fails to thrive in captivity. Although there are still some imports coming in, these snakes are so easy to breed in captivity that they have been known to breed to death when not separated! Like rabbits.
