So I got one (1) only Blaberus giganteus in November 2003. In January I found 28 nymphs. Ok. It must have bred before I took it home. Today I find 4 month old nymphs, looking normal, and some new ones...again. Are we talking parthenogenisis here or semen retention? What say all you roach experts? I'm just keeping them for fun and I'm not sure on all the breeding details. Here is a photo of the 1st and 2nd generation.

I'm no expert, but I'd guess semen retention. Most insects need to mate only once to reproduce for the rest of their lives.
