Bizzarre beetle!

What type of beetle is this? It's abdomen and body remind me of a lightning bug.

Pyrochroidae: not sure of the species.

Ahh, I can't remember the name of those. The females are wingless and have some glowing parts ...and eat millipedes around here "tx" The females don't look anything like the adult male you took a pic of. I think I just found it, Phengodidae?

Your probably right Phengodidae; Pyrochroidae, Phengodidae, Cantharidae, Lampyridae are all closely related.
