Birding from my front porch

The swallows came back this year. There was a misunderstanding by some of the neighbor kids it seems. When I asked them to appreciate nature from a distance and not steal the nest again this year (it was a problem last year) they agreed until they cased the place and raided the nest when I went to work. Their babysitter brought me the baby birds and one was able to be rehabilitated and released. The others never thrived and eventually died. The second clutch almost experienced the same fate but luckily they were able to grow and leave the nest without issue and with only minor intervention on our part. (Yeah....I tattled on the kids to their parents........I'm not ashamed.)

I love birds. Theyre my favorite kind of animal (sorry Ts...you are a close second!).
