Hi,ive kept birds for 10 yrs,i recently bought a cockatiel to replace a old female we had for yrs.4 months into this today i found her on the bottom of the cage.Plenty food/clean water but she looks thin listless labored breathing, gave her some antibiotics from the vet.Im stumped as to what the hell caused this, just 3 days ago she was fine didnt look thin or anything, now she seems very thin i need somebody with more experience than me,thats maybe seen something like this before.Id really like to save this bird it flys to you when you call its name super smart and friendly.I've got it in a icu warm, water available.Vet didnt have a clue.He said it might be contaminated food but its fiesta ive fed it for yrs no probs.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Sorry dude wish I knew. I, too like birds and really wish I could help you out. I'll try asking a family member that might know something about it when they wake up.

I had a parrot for 9 years. Dropped dead one day. He had liver damage because he was so domesticated, he ate chicken and pork off plates that were left on the table and he used to lick the salt shaker when no one was home. Very sweet bird he was. :(
I study animals and by the clear, liquidy feces he was pooping, he either had liver or kidney damage.

Sorry 'bout your loss, Raze. I'm 15 and have had this dog since I was born and it's going to turn 16 in a few months and I'm loathing the day it'll kick the bucket. She ( a Pomeranian) is very fat due to getting fed table scraps all the time. That and the people that I live with (her owners (my grand parents)) step on her all the time. She's limping from arthritis and my large grandmother doesn't help the situation any by stepping squarely on her foot at least once a week. The poor thing stops walking on that leg for like a half hour after she gets stepped on. I kinda know how she feels coz my grandmother steps on my extra large feet at least twice a day.

Birds dont show sickness until they are very very sick usually. Was the vet u went to specifically an exotic avian vet? If not, check in ur area to see if there is one. I think it would be odd that the vet would draw a ?

Yep he was a specialist, but its not a issue she died about a hr ago.I cant see how she could have eaten something bad but with 3 kids around you never know. The only thing i can think is she just had something wrong with her internally. The other female we had lived 10 yrs,so i guess this girl was just sick and we didnt know till it was too late. Thanks for your thoughts on it and the concerned responses.

aww, Im sorry. I have an 8 year old chihuahua and a 5 year old mutt as well. My chihuahua used to get stepped on all the time. Now I freakin flip out if anyone steps on him because everyone who walks into my house should know I have a small dog and they better watch out. The last person that stepped on him got kicked very hard. And the next to do this will get kicked as well. I promise that!!!

I'd kick my grandmother, but I might get jailed doing it >.<. I'll just start walking on her feet and see how she likes it.

Edit: Don't mean to come of sounding mean, but I don't want my dogs final time on Earth to be limping on a broken leg or something.
