That's extremely interesting, thank you for sharing Viper
Thought so too, next step is they are going to learn how the spiders do this. That's extremely interesting, thank you for sharing Viper
I wonder what they will come up with ! Clearly spoods are more intelligent then anyone gave them credit for.Thought so too, next step is they are going to learn how the spiders do this.
A cool video!I wonder what they will come up with ! Clearly spoods are more intelligent then anyone gave them credit for.
I was watching Travis McEnery the other day , it was about orb weavers too he said some boffin in the 60's did a test to see how intelligent orb weavers are turns out they can not only learn but could retain the info he gave them. It's super interesting hang on will see if I can link it you may find it interesting too.
Above where I write my comments isn't lit up any more so I can't press the icons to put the link in, I have tried to copy it n just paste but just incase it didn't work it was called "The cross orb weavers, These are the spiders in your yard. " and he talks about it on the chapter called intelligence, just incase you don't want to watch all of it.
I hope you find his stuff as interesting as I do
Glad you like it, I like his stuff it's not only educational but funny and he dumbs it down enough for even me to understand, all good in my bookA cool video!
There are plenty of posts- mostly in the tarantula forums- where people refer to the spider brain as "just ganglia" as a way to support their thesis that spiders are incapable of intelligence.things like this always make me wonder how the people that think "lower" life forms aren't intelligent justify their position.
Indeed there are. Not just here but throughout various media outlets and throughout timelines. Research like this tends to point out our ignorance/arrogance quite clearly hard to deny that they aren't only utilizing tools to bait food, but also have a clear understanding of how other species will interact with such other species on a far deeper level than most humans might give them credit for. If that's not intelligence, I'm not sure what is.There are plenty of posts- mostly in the tarantula forums- where people refer to the spider brain as "just ganglia" as a way to support their thesis that spiders are incapable of intelligence.
When I first got my t's I used to tap on the front of the viv twice to announce I was there, my albo used to come to the front of his viv everytime I did it, I asked about this at the time n was told I was stupid, t'sAdaptation...
Manipulation...
Communication ?
Could be, I used to do it with tongs 2 taps and Cupcake is male and was only 2/3 inches at the time but maybe .Simulating Tarantula Drumming
Spiders are literally experts at detecting vibrations. Far moreso than our own species. I tap and vibrate web anytime I want to take a photo of my spiders. When I first got my t's I used to tap on the front of the viv twice to announce I was there, my albo used to come to the front of his viv everytime I did it, I asked about this at the time n was told I was stupid, t's
/spiders can't recognise vibrations they have no brains..... wish I had kept on with it now instead of stopping. Makes me wonder if he would remember it .
If they can use tools and recognise the sounds of a tuning fork why not a tap
I may have to start tapping again curious now
Didn't think of it like that , feel horrible now coz he thought it was food OK no tapping .Spiders are literally experts at detecting vibrations. Far moreso than our own species. I tap and vibrate web anytime I want to take a photo of my spiders.
Even in the wild, nearly everyone uses this technique to cheat them into a photo shoot From orb weavers to funnel webs.
That's more along the lines of people using weather patterns and tracks to gain food stores.
This article is much different in the sense they are using both construction, trapping and an understanding of a vastly unrelated species to attract their food supply. We do this as well (live bait traps), but it's good for game to recognize game
