I have an allergy to roaches, but also love roaches and was wondering if I could create a bio active setup with springtails and isopods to reduce grass buildup. Suggestions welcome. 🙂

Not a good reason to keep roaches first of all.

Also, I would not recommend bioactive set up for dubia roaches, if not all other roaches. Better to keep them dry to avoid any mess.

My bioactive Dubia enclosure turned into an isopod farm. There are some dubia still in there doing ok, but there are probably thousands of isopods. I have seen them munching on a dubia ootheca while the female was still carrying it, also. Those were powder blue/powder orange mixed isopods, I think they outcompeted the springtails also, although I haven't checked in a while.

I tried the same a couple years back and had similar issues. Also fruit flies despite the isopods and springtails.

If you do end up doing it and have allergies, place a small UV air filter over the vent mesh. It will help control some of the poop dust.
