I think that is a compact fluorescent which doesnt put out much heat. I could be wrong though. Impressive spider.. I would like to have some but haven't found any yet.

excellent spider you have there. i was looking at the hide and was thinking if she can actually fit herself there.LOL

i have nothing against the light. but IMO it would be prettier if the the light isn't that low. kinda ruining the all natural scene.

Are you sure that he's a Apophysis, it looks like a Blondi to me :) :?
You could be right. The seller sold this T as a blondi, but am 99% sure its a apophysis. Couple years ago i had 2 blondi's and this T doesn't look like the blondi's i had at al. If you look at the pics below, you can see a big black dot an the abdomen, and the legs of this T are thinner than a blondi.

Very nice specimen there, whatever it is. Great pictures too.

I'm not sure which species it is but if it were up to me I'd ditch the light in favor of several more inches of substrate.

Was told by some one that you or pets should not be within 12 inch's of these lights for prolonged periods. Have not had a chance to check it out and see if I can find more on it. You may want to get on line and see what its about.
I have not seen a thing about it so far but seen this and thought it worth mentioning.

thats an apophysis, id be VERY suprised if her male siblings didnt have tibial hooks, aside from that diagnostic character there are very distinct differences between blondi and apophysis (as close as they are), there isnt even an 'cline' between specimens, sure blondi and apophysis maybe able to hybridise and in the wild there well maybe a gradulal overlap of traits meaning they are the same species but the hobby specimens fall into two very distinct camps which are reinforced by the prescence/lack of tibial hooks in the male.

she looks very big, the ruler suggests a carapace between 35-38 mm, do you have a measurement of her last moults carapace?

My recenlty demised apophysis had a final moult carapace of 35mm so she wasnt especially huge despite being 13 years old at the moult. blondis seem to get closer to 40 mm quite regularly.
