i was at my girlfriends house this weekend walking around snake/spider/scorpion hunting this weekend and walked into a web that i felt through my shirt, VERY strong web, and huge, over 8 feet tall, and about 9 feet wide.. i pulled it 3 feet before i felt it and it didnt even damage it.. very strong.. me and a friend went back the next day and found the spider at the top of the web, where it had slit 3-4 leaves and sort of weaved them together and made a pod to hide in..

ok now to the spider.. and i will try to get a pic up later today or in a few days at the latest.. it has the body structure of a widow, only about 6-7 times the size of an adult female black widow.. the legs are black at the tips, and at the knees, with alternating gray and brown bands between the knees, short pedipalps, and the back is predominantly a pastel green color, with a little black and scattered tiny white dots, and in the middle of the back there is a pattern that resembles an upside-down christmas tree, with the spinnerettes being the top of the tree.. the body as i said, is large, and similar to the shape of a widow, with 2 lumps one on the left and one on the right at the top of the back..

i tried to describe it to the best of my ability.. with spider on hand to reference every detail.. and i will try to get some pics up

Definitely curious to see if anyone knows the spiders name and post some pics when you can!

sounds like a golden orb weaver of some sort, check the other posting of Nephila clavipes (not that that is it but it may be related)
