Big mantis

I was walking home when i saw this damn big mantis. It was like 5" long. Do mantis usually grow this big? What mantis is this?

He lives on Mars...I think it explains everything quite nicely ;P

I've seen them that big in Iowa...the local movie theater has an infestation of them...I think I'll help them out with that as soon as I can drive

looks like one that a coworker caught for me here that was around 2.5" long...he said he's seen em over 4" long at his house. Never did find an ID online...not that I checked all that hard lol. Cool lil buggers, nothing like the other more common inverts i keep (the usual T's, centipedes, scorps)...
