Over here in Thaiville yet somewhat used to consumer protection, such as it is, in the US, I'm extremely wary of stuff made in China. Any stuff but especially any food items. It is accepted here as fact that all government inspectors and regulators in China are for sale and quality control is a needless waste of money on production lines. And of course, here today, gone tomorrow and renamed next week, popping up in a different city is standard business practice in China. Let's never forget the hundreds of thousands of infants poisoned so some dairy businesses can make some extra $$$. That isn't really an exception but the rule around those parts.
Anyway, here is yet another little zap from big red and something more to watch for when feeding your pet.

There was a news article yesterday that PetSmart was no longer going to carry Chinese-made edible pet items. It's about time.

PetSmart, too? I know Petco was going 'china-free' for treats. Great news, but it's still up to the consumer to check, then double check, not only where the treats are made, but where the ingredients are sourced from. That goes for treats and dog food.

The Snark, thanks for the heads up and remind to always be diligent!!

...three humans too? Why did they go for doggie jerky instead of stepping into a Slim Jim?
It's the same thinking behind "does this smell awful to you too?".

With as many complaints as they had, three people is a really small control group. I'm thinking something along the lines of "wow, these made my dog sick, so I'd best test these out on me, since I have better health insurance", but with much less thought put into it.

Good on major chain pet stores for this, and thanks to The Snark for bringing it to our attention.

Where's the product names?
Do NOT go by names when dealing with Chinese products. Companies change their product names the moment one receives a little bad publicity. They even change the name of their company. Recently was had a chain of computer stores that got a bad rep from shoddy sales pitches. In a period of a week over 40 stores became entirely different new computer stores with rearranged furniture and new interior decoration.
