Hi guys, I ended up getting a fish tank. I've wanted one for a while.

Oddly enough one of my favorite fishes are betta's...so i wanted to make a tank based around him. I went away for a month and just got him back today (with his plants. they were in a smaller tank for awhile) the plants ended up being quite withered when i put them into the tank, but they seem to be bouncing back.

On the left side you can see there's a piece of drift wood not completely sunk, but it should be soon.

Right now I have 4 red ramshorn snails, 5 cherry shrimp, Mr. Fishy (betta) and two female (I think) minnows(will add 3 more). They are some cute.

I plan to add a few dwarf corys to the tank as well, and maybe a small species of pleco (maybe Rineloricaria lanceolata?). It's a ten gallon, so I can't have too much life in it. lol.

The filter is aquaclear 20, its doing pretty good! And yeah, I forgot to buy a gravel sucker for the snail poo so you can see some in there lol...

any tips appreciated :))

This shrimp doesn't look enthused. lol

I'd skip the pleco, they're poop machines and will take up a huge portion of your bioload.
Look into ottos instead, or since its a ten gallon, an algae scraper will do fine:)
Nice tank, I like the sand.

If you ever need kribs, let me know!

Yah, avoid the pleco Crysta. A clown pleco would stay pretty small, but still a lot of waste and they tend to eat more protein or wood than algae. Your snails should keep it under control. You could also get a bunch of shrimp like cherry shimp. They will also consume a bit of algae and keep the tank clean. If you have enough plants they will also reproduce quite efficiently. And great thing about this mix is that if your heater breaks or the power goes out all your aquatic organisms can handle the drop in temperature for extended periods.

durn, i don't like the idea of excess poo. I currently have 5 cherry shrimp in there..so when the plants grow out hopefully they breed.

Do you think the dwarf corys would be okay in there?

I also saw a big shrimp that looked cute too at the store (flower shrimp?) would that compete with the cherries?

Nice blue mask Halfmoon and tank aswell, I personally have a planted betta tank aswell. I wouldn't do the corys, but that's based on my preference, as I think the betta and shrimp are fine as is. I would suggest getting 2 Oto cats though, highly efficiently algae eater and when they're mixed with algae eating shrimp, they're a unstoppable force lol.
The flower shrimp will get along peacefully with the other shrimp no problem, I currently have 1 flower shrimp, 3 Amano shrimp, 5 orange bee shrimp, 3 blueberry shrimp and 1 Oto cat in my blue mask Halfmoon plakat's planted tank.
If you'd like I can show you a few links to my tank and my 20+ betta collection lol.

I think the cory's are quite personable so I think I may add them to the tank, but i will wait till i get more cloud minnows first, and a flower shrimp and see how it goes.

I see that you say he is a blue mask halfmoon, it seems to me he's more of a delta tail, because the top part doesn't flare up like a half moon (as it doesn't' connect all the way to the back.)

I would love to see he links to your tank :)

im going to wait till these plants grow abit since they are new to see how they fare before adding more to the tank. Currently he rests on the drift wood piece that hasn't suck yet.

I think all the advice you've been given is good. I personally would skip the corys. I think you'd really be pushing your bioload. The white clouds are schooling fish, so you really want to do at least 5. Corys also prefer to school, so having a few in there on top of what you already have, in my opinion, is a little over-stocked. That's not to say it's impossible, but I don't know that I'd recommend it. It looks nice, though. Good luck with the plants, they have a tendency to be frustrating at times.
