I bought some small bags of spider substrate (Terra Spider) specifically for the type of species and she (my A Gen) loves it and so do my other diggers. But i’m in the UK. I err on the side of caution and go with spider specific substrate. I tried coco fibre and I hate it. Awful dusty stuff. I add rehydrated spagnum into the mix and bark/leaf litter, more moss on top.

Substrate is the keepers choice, there is NO "best" substrate for this, or any species of tarantula.

I have been using coco fiber since starting my collection (up to nine now). Compress it well after setting up enclosure and all my terrestrials are happy.

I use a mix of coco fibre, top soil (no additives), vermiculite and sphag
