So my co-workers found a giant centipede in our store the other day. Scolopendra species of some sort, a little over 4in. Knowing my love for the spineless, they "saved it" for me so I was able to capture it. I took it home, set it up comfortably, and gave it a nice dinner of mealworms.
Yesterday I decided to take it to my local exotic shop to see what I could get for him. This is the awesome part.

for one giant centepede I got a suntiger sling, and a sub-adult OBT!!!!!!!  {D

So awesome! What luck, right?

I think you got ripped off. A P.Irminia sling is 15 dollars, 20 max. The sub-adult OBT is worth 35-40 dollars.

arent giant centipedes worth quite a bit when adults?

Not to rain on your parade at all though!

where do you live? could it have been a pede native to you area, such as Polymorpha?

either way, that's pretty cool.

if it's native to his area, which is more than likely what it is, then he's the one that got the excellent deal ;)

I did my research before hand. I found the same centepedes online for about $20. It was one of the more common ones. Either way, Free centepede traded for 2 free tarantulas.

I live in Southern Colorado. Not typically native here I think, but we've had a lot more rain than usual so who knows. I think they are usually the more southern states.
