So my first old world T is a C darlingi and after 3 weeks of not seeing her at all she finally decided to take a walk out of her burrow at midnight and i got a great look of her! Such an awesome looking spider, but i never get to see her much. I know that baboon tarantulas aren't exactly known to be the best displays, but i was just wondering about yalls experiences, what baboon species is the most visible in your experience?

Thank you in advance, Maman

I hear Augecephalus enzendami tend to stay out in the open, but I don't have this species myself.

I see all of my P. murinus regularly hanging out the mouth of their burrows, and they make really neat webbing along with the digging. H. pulchripes tends to be out a bit too from what I understand, I just got a sling earlier this week myself.

Ah those OBTs, who doesn't love em :p a friend of mine has one that's quite a bit reclusive, but I'm still currently thinking about selling my darlingi to buy myself an OBT, and as for Augacephalus ezendami, i like the look of OBTs better and i don't know anyone selling them where i live,

Thank you, Maman

I wouldn't jump the gun on selling your darlingi. You havent had her very long and she may just need more time to settle in. How big is she? Slings and juveniles tend to be shy and will hide more than their adult counterparts.

Monocentropus lambertoni. My lass is pretty much always out. She's more like a terrestrial NW in that respect. Be aware they're very defensive and quite expensive.

She's around 4" now and I've had her for 2 months give or take, for the first 2 weeks of having her she didn't burrow or webbed much at all, until she suddenly made a burrow and webbed up pretty much her entire enclosure basically over night! I am only considering to sell her, and i think i will follow your advice and give her more time! Maybe she'll pop around more in the time to come!

Thank you! Maman

IMO OBTs are reclusive as heck....ezendami are seen, but its not like they typically sit in the open a lot though, but you do see them at burrow mouths often.

IMO ezendami is 100 times more stunning than OBT though....ezendami have a spectacular carapace.
My marshalli is the one baboon i have kept that always sits out in the open, making it MY best display baboon...but not all individuals are like this....my darlingi are right behind them....i find both become more and more visible as they reach adulthood.

Ah i see, and from the answers that I'm getting, it seems like it boils down a bit into individual differences yes? I might look into the Ezendami if i can find them at a good price, same as the marshalli,

Thank you! Maman

And in my case, my adult female C. marshalli is the T that is NEVER out  I shine a torch into her burrow, hoping to see enough of her to be relatively certain she is alive and well.

My P. murinus aren't reclusive at all, and my A. ezendami female sat in the open all the time.

My C. sanderi is out quite a loy, as are my P. chordatus girls.

Yup! Goes to show how much personality these guys have :p i have very2 limited space for my T collection and that's why i want to have the best display species, i love the look of baboon spiders and cyriopagopus/haplopelma, but if i never get to see them, then what's the point :p

Thank you, Maman

Yup that rush when you finally see them out after a long time :) i just saw my darlingi out for a drink!!! Her abdomen is huge and she's been refusing food for a couple of weeks, so I'm pretty sure she's in premolt, still soo happy i got to see her :) :)

"Premolt" is a relative term that I have a lot of issues with

But that debate aside, my adult female C. darlingi is on an egg sac right now! I'm super excited, and I have never seen her abdomen so "small" (read, normal-sized... she has always been a fatty haha)

My P murinus is always out.
Beautiful!!! I'm starting to lean over to the OBT because of that striking color, their webbing tendencies, and a fairly good price!

Thank you, Maman

Does Encyocratella olivacea count?

Oh these guys are gorgeous! I've only seen one of these guys in person and i don't know any sellers/breeders who are selling them :( i think the Tarantula hobby in Indonesia is not yet very advanced

Thank you, Maman
