I was out in Tallhassee, Florida for a few days this week. I had the good fortune to see a few insects while there.
This was found near Tallahassee, FL. I found it sitting under a few sticks next to a sandy road.
Tiger Moth - Notartica sp.
Unidentified Caterpillar - This was found on some blackberry vines behind the hotel in Tallahassee, Florida.
Bess Beetle - Odontaenius disjunctus
Very cool! These guys are huge at almost two inches (~5.0cm) long. I found them everywhere in and around Tallahassee.
Leaf-footed bugs mating. These are also huge. They are probably close to 1.5 inches long (~3.75cm) They sounded like small biplanes when they buzzed past my head.
