Just thought id post some of my beetle pics.

I am breeding the redish-brown stags and hermit beetles we will see how it goes

very nice! what specie is that rhino beetle? also any idea of those smaller green guys? very pretty!

the rino is Strategus aloeus and the other beetles are Japanese beetles
(Popillia japonica)

It's funny how beautiful Japanese beetles really are but to most of us in the U.S. they are entirely unimpressive because we see thousands of them every summer and there are products everywhere for killing them en masse.

While looking for geckos in kansas, I found one eating a nice junebug, so I took a pic of a junebug.

I wasnt quick enough to get a pic of the gecko eating, but I did find a nice baby later on.

And heres a pic of a gecko in his natural habitat (concrete). These things blend in really well with concrete and bricks.

They dont enjoy the flash very much so its usually only 1 pic per lizard.

japanese beetles are way to abundant, in the first two pics the beetles were destroying the flowers in my garden the last pic was on the flower of a milkweed plant if you look close you can see a catiplier in the background

acrazy what other beetles do u have any Goliathus orientalis preussi??? if so do u know were to uptain some lol!!! i love these guys

right now i only have native beetles and the only thing i can suggest for the Goliathus is to keep an eye on the differant forums and every once in awhial their will be people selling them.

I used to catch june bugs when I was younger. I don't think they bite but they sure get mad when you capture them. It always amazes me how strong beetles are, even the small ones.

Thats a good question does anyone know if they are capable of biting? I have always wondered this since there are always so many around my place.

Yeah, I realise the brown ones are Junebugs, but around here we refer to the colorful Japanese bastards as Junebugs because they ALWAYS start killing our trees in....June.
