These are all from taiwan, i can't say much about them but i can get more/better pcis if needed, jsut say what part is best to shoot.

the first is a metalic purple/red/brown and some are black. they are about 2-3 cm long and fat. i know for a fact they eat fruit as adults as i took them from a fruit.

this i do not know...i found it on an appl etree amongst other various trees at a school. there were 2 matine and have foudn about 20 since. without antenae it is about 5cm

lastly this guy... they are a "stink bug" as they stink...they have a long thing on their mouth...not sure if its to suck plant juices or aniamls...its about 2 cm. found 3 on an oak tree.

i have preserved and live animals at the school i fi need better pics :)

any ideas? any guides to taiwans beetles.

the second one is an asian longhorned beetle (Anoplophora glabripennis), a serious threat to trees. i'm not sure how much of an issue it is in taiwan, but in America, the tree you found it on would be cut down and incinerated. hopefully they are under control where you are.

Excellent thanks!!!

teh second one, could it be a Calloplophora albopicta" I have looked up a bunch of pictures and it seems it may be this. although Anoplophora glabripennis and Anoplophora malasiaca look like possibilites as well.

thanks for the help! would better pictures of specific areas help?

check out this site, expensive but i have yet to find a better source of pictures!!! Taiwan site, in english. or i think it is, perhaps it just cahnges the country name accordign to IP. anyway, take a look.

it's always really difficult to get things down to species... and after looking at that site, i think that the second beetle is probably in the genus Anoplophora... but it's difficult to say... the symmetry of the spots made me second guess my initial reaction... as of now i'm open to suggestion on what it actually is. the type of tree it was on could help you identify it, but i'm not expert enough to tell you which tree meant which species. good luck.
