Just made a huge batch of beetle larvae substrate. using a crap ton of wood pellets (thank you dad for letting barrow the bbq chips), some yeast and some sugar to speed up fermentation. So far it's been a success. The smell is similar to fresh/semi-rotted fruit and from research that means the yeast is hard at work. I hope this fermentation works out. My plan is to use this for food for Dynastes tityus larvae. If anyone wants to know on how it's progressing, please let me know, thanks!

I figured the same thing so I did some research and asked my dad on the brand. He's picky when it comes to his bbq so he grabs just plain natural chips. There are sources online that do say bbq chips can be used as an easier option than sawdust. But this is my first time making it.
